In the end, I guess it didn’t really matter, especially now that we were set to finish this challenge.

“Do it again,” Clovis said as I flourished not one, but two axes.

I spun both weapons and winked at the spellbook. “Looks cool, right?”

<The wink made it worse.>

“It takes talent to wink,” Clovis told Lily. “I still can’t do it without blinking both eyes.”

I was no axe-fighting expert, even if I’d binge-watched The Last Kingdom and played enough Ubisoft games to get perks. But that didn’t matter in Genera. As soon as I had brought Axl Rose into my hand, and later his cousin (or brother?), Slash, I was an instant expert. I’d yet to fumble the weapon, cut off my pinky finger, or do anything stupid with the pair of axes aside from my normal asshattery.
